Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Brainy Bears — ingredients, dosage, allergens, shipping, and more.
What are the active ingredients in Brainy Bears?
Each gummy contains 25mg of Magnesium Citrate and 10mg of Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride). These two nutrients work together to support calm focus and healthy brain function.
What age is Brainy Bears appropriate for?
Brainy Bears are formulated for children. As with any dietary supplement, we recommend consulting your pediatrician before starting, especially for children under 4.
Can adults take Brainy Bears?
Adults can take Brainy Bears, but at 25mg of magnesium per gummy they are dosed for children. A typical adult magnesium serving is 300–400mg, which would require many more gummies than is practical. If you're an adult looking for magnesium support, a product dosed specifically for adults is a better fit.
How many gummies should my child take per day?
The recommended serving is 1–2 gummies daily. Each bottle contains 60 gummies, so one bottle lasts 1–2 months depending on dosage.
When will my child notice a difference?
Every child is different, but the clinical studies on magnesium and B6 in children typically ran 6 to 8 weeks before measuring behavioral changes. Some parents notice calmer evenings within the first couple of weeks; others take longer. Consistency matters more than any single dose.
What does it taste like?
Raspberry! Our gummies are naturally flavored with raspberry and colored with purple carrot juice concentrate. Kids love them.
Are there any common allergens?
Brainy Bears contain coconut (from coconut oil glaze). They do not contain gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, fish, or shellfish. Always check the full ingredient list if your child has specific allergies.
Is Brainy Bears vegan, kosher, or halal?
Brainy Bears are vegetarian and gelatin-free — we use pectin rather than gelatin as the gelling agent, which also makes them suitable for many vegan diets. Formal kosher and halal certifications are in progress; please email hello@mybrainybears.com for the latest status.
Does Brainy Bears contain sugar?
Each gummy contains 3 grams of total sugars and 15 calories. We kept sweetness to the minimum needed for palatability — enough that kids want to take it, not so much that it tastes like candy.
Why a gummy and not a chewable tablet or liquid?
We chose gummies because compliance is the real measure of any kids' supplement: if your child won't take it consistently, the form factor doesn't matter. Raspberry-flavored gummies with natural color solve the 'will they actually eat it' problem that trips up a lot of parents.
How is magnesium citrate different from magnesium glycinate?
Both are well-absorbed forms of magnesium. Magnesium citrate has one of the best-studied absorption profiles and a long track record in pediatric use, which is why we chose it for Brainy Bears. Glycinate is another bioavailable option often marketed for sleep; it was not our choice for a daytime focus gummy.
Is it safe to take magnesium every day?
Daily magnesium at appropriate doses is generally considered safe for children. The National Academies of Medicine sets a Tolerable Upper Intake Level for supplemental magnesium of 110mg per day for children 4–8, and 350mg per day for ages 9 and up. Each Brainy Bears gummy contains 25mg, well within those limits even at the 2-gummy serving.
What if my child takes too many gummies?
Brainy Bears is formulated so that an accidental extra gummy or two is not a safety concern — a child would need to eat well over a dozen to approach the upper intake limit for magnesium. Still, store the bottle out of reach of children. If you're ever concerned, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
Will my child build a tolerance to magnesium?
Magnesium is a mineral the body uses as a cofactor, not a substance the body adapts to the way it does with stimulant medications. Research has not shown tolerance development with magnesium supplementation.
Is Brainy Bears a medication?
No. Brainy Bears is a dietary supplement, not a medication. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If your child is currently taking medication, please consult your healthcare provider before adding any supplement.
Can my child take Brainy Bears with their ADHD medication?
Always talk to your child's prescribing provider before combining any supplement with a prescription medication. Magnesium is generally considered compatible with most medications, but your provider knows your child's specific situation and should make that call.
Is there scientific research behind this formulation?
Yes. Multiple published clinical studies have examined magnesium and B6 supplementation in children and found positive effects on focus, attention, and behavioral regulation. Visit our Science page for a full summary of the research.
Is this product made in the USA?
Yes. Brainy Bears are manufactured in New York State and distributed from St. Louis, Missouri.
How should I store Brainy Bears?

What is the shelf life?
